Jolly Phonics is a phonics-based method of teaching English that, in the first step, introduces children to the 42 English sounds through movement, music, pictures, and stories.

segment words into sounds (segmenting),
correct letter formation.
Each sound has its own story, action, and song that engage both the body and the mind – making learning not a chore, but a game.
ZOZNÁMENIEStep two
In the second step, Jolly Phonics introduces children to alternative spellings of the same sounds (e.g. /a-e/ as in the word "snake"). At the same time, it guides them to acquire the basics of spelling, distinguish between different types of sentences, and describe pictures, which naturally supports the development of creative writing.
TVORENIEStep three
In the third step, Jolly Phonics introduces children to all the most commonly used alternative spellings of sounds, reinforces their spelling skills, and develops creative writing across key vocabulary topics.
Jolly Literacy
It builds on the Jolly Phonics method and continues developing reading and writing literacy, grammar (including punctuation), and spelling over the following six school years – from Jolly Literacy 1 up to Jolly Literacy 6.
Teaching is active and multisensory, using colours (aligned with those used in Montessori schools) and action gestures for individual parts of speech. At the same time, it continuously revises and develops children’s phonics skills.
Spelling, grammar and punctuation
The programme offers two lessons per week in which children learn new spelling patterns, develop their use of dictionaries and thesauruses, and acquire more complex grammar concepts – in an engaging and playful way.
Reading comprehension and writing
Two additional lessons per week are dedicated to reading comprehension and writing. Children work with a variety of texts that naturally integrate the vocabulary, grammar, and spelling covered during the week. These texts also stimulate creative thinking and develop independent writing skills.
